Feasibility & cost planning
Understand the likely construction cost before committing to a scheme. We consider drawings, specification, scope and known project risks to develop an early cost picture that can be refined as information improves.
Focused commissions and ongoing appointments across development, procurement, construction and commercial close-out.
BuildSight can undertake individual quantity surveying commissions or take responsibility for defined commercial management functions throughout your project. Our role, deliverables and responsibilities are agreed at the outset.
Understand the likely construction cost before committing to a scheme. We consider drawings, specification, scope and known project risks to develop an early cost picture that can be refined as information improves.
Turn drawings and project information into a structured estimate. We examine quantities, specification, subcontractor costs and allowances so your budget or tender is based on a clear scope.
Prepare work packages, invite and assess competitive quotations, clarify scope and support subcontractor selection. The emphasis is on comparable bids, clear commercial terms and identifying gaps before appointment.
Provide ongoing commercial oversight during the build: subcontract administration, payment assessment, change management and advice on emerging issues. Depending on the appointment, BuildSight can manage defined commercial functions or work alongside your existing team.
See where the project stands financially. We review commitments, costs incurred, forecast costs to complete and commercial risks, helping you spot movements early rather than at the end.
Assess progress payments, measure and value changes, keep records of agreed adjustments and work towards a properly documented final account. This supports more transparent financial close-out.
Manage the administration of agreed building contract procedures, including correspondence, instructions, payment procedures, variations and notices, and provide guidance on contractual obligations within the appointment. This can include interpreting and working with JCT forms and bespoke building contracts relevant to the project. Where formally appointed as contract administrator, duties — including any obligations to act fairly or impartially — are determined by the contract and agreed appointment.
BuildSight can take ownership of agreed commercial tasks — from procurement and subcontract accounts to cost reporting, valuations, variations and final accounts. This is responsibility for the professional services we are appointed to deliver, not overall responsibility for managing the construction project.
Every project is different, so we provide a fee proposal based on the services required, available information, programme and level of involvement.
BuildSight can undertake a defined one-off commission or provide ongoing commercial management throughout a project. We will discuss the proposed scope and deliverables with you and confirm the fee basis before work begins. There are no published standard rates or assumed packages.
Request a fee proposalWhether you need one piece of cost advice or ongoing commercial support, we can discuss a suitable appointment.
